Leo Burnett Wins 53 Lions at Cannes

‘Justino’ wins the networks first Cyber Grand Prix; ‘Legally Bride’ earns Beirut another Glass Lion

Leo Burnett Worldwide won 53 Cannes Lions at the 63rd annual Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. The wins include one Grand Prix, one Glass Lion, 10 Gold Lions, 18 Silver Lions and 23 Bronze Lions.

The much-lauded short film “Justino” by Leo Burnett Madrid for the Spanish Lottery earned the first Cyber Grand Prix for the network in addition to a Gold in Film and Silver in Film Craft. This is the very first Grand Prix for the Madrid office.

“Justino,” a Pixar-esque animated film that kicked off Spain’s annual Christmas lottery, has won the hearts of both consumers and jurors worldwide. Praised by top news media outlets such as the BBC, Adweek, Cosmopolitan and others, the film also won key accolades from global award shows such as the ADC Awards, AICP Awards, El Sol and Facebook Studio Awards, among others.

Chicago topped the award count this year with its best performance ever – 17 Lions for work exclusively led by the office. The jewel was “Van Gogh BnB,” a brilliant immersive experience that earned 14 Lions. The UnitedHealthcare team’s first national consumer brand work, “Ways In” and “Delivery,” won two Lions, while Samsung’s “Voices of Life” won a Silver Lion.

Leo Burnett Beirut nabbed the network’s third Glass Lion since the category’s debut in 2015. “Legally Bride,” which also won a Bronze Lion in Media, created awareness on a global scale for the issue of child marriages on behalf of Kafa.

Another milestone is the Riyadh team’s first Cannes Lion, which is also a first for a Saudi-based brand, Almarai.

The network also celebrated as client Samsung was honored as the Creative Marketer of the Year. The brand won 29 Lions during the festival, with Leo Burnett winning the lion’s share: 12 Lions for “brainBAND,” “Celebrity Tantrum,” “#SeeColors” and “Voices of Life.”

Congratulations to these 16 offices for their success at Cannes: Bangkok, Beirut, Bratislava, Budapest, Chicago, Frankfurt, Jakarta, Lisbon, Madrid, Melbourne, Mexico City, Mumbai, Riyadh, Sao Paulo, Sydney and Toronto.
