Lynch takes to the roads

Fresh off a strange conceptual album that didn’t go entirely as planned, the ever-eccentric David Lynch this week unveiled what promises to be an endeavor worth keeping an eye on.  The Interview Project is collection of profiles of people encountered during a gargantuan 70-day road trip spanning 20 thousand miles across the United States.

According to Lynch, the “team” discovered the people “driving along the roads, going into bars, going into different locations and there they were.”  While only one story is up as I write, 120 others will be rolled out in the weeks to come.  A preview of the series suggests many subjects seem as if they live on the ‘margins’ of society, and that the interviews will likely include meditations on memories, hopes, dreams and the other assorted miscellanea that make up this life.

It definitely looks to be a unique snapshot of ‘America,’ though should we expect no less from the man who brought us “Eraserhead”?  Students of human behavior, take note… this should be a curious journey.
